How I Got a Car Seat for Free! And a Review of the Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I decided that Baby Girl needed to transition from her infant car seat to a convertible. I remembered that I had money in my TopCashback account and it turned out that I had enough to purchase the seat.

So how does this work? Well, first you go to www.topcashback.com  and sign up. Then, whenever you plan to shop online visit TopCashback and search for the business where you plan to shop.

It will take you to a page with search results.

Then to a company page that shows how much cashback you will receive on which purchases. Select the get cashback link and then shop as usual. Make sure if you plan to use coupons you use the ones listed on TopCashback because they reserve the right to deny cashback if you use an unauthorized coupon. I have never had this problem, but I wanted to mention it.

Try to remember to check the website before you make any online purchases to earn the cashback. Sometimes I have even done order online and pickup instore to get the extra cashback. Then, when you are ready, go to your account and check out the payout options. There are several options including PayPal and direct deposit, but the best option is an Amazon gift card. TopCashback adds 3% when you get your payout as an Amazon gift card. I wanted to mention that it took me about a year to save enough for the car seat (my payout purchases were from Jan 2016-Feb 2017).

So we were deciding between two car seats and settled on the Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat. This car seat is great for tall babies, provided you have the room in your car. It has a one hand strap adjustment, a machine washable cover, and 6 different recline positions. The installation on the car seat was very straightforward using the LATCH attachments. Unfortunately, my car is too small to use the extension panel, but I suppose if you have a larger vehicle it would work. Thankfully, Baby Girl doesn’t actually need it.

We used the new car seat on a recent 6-hour (one way) road trip with Baby Girl. She is 9 months old and doing a great job sitting up. I mention this because one of the things I noticed in the reviews and with my baby was that with the head support insert, if she fell asleep, her chin was on her chest. After we removed both the head and body inserts and set the recline to 1 (the deepest recline) we did not have this problem anymore. She seemed comfortable and relaxed while riding and she spent a LOT of time in it that week.

One of my favorite features about this car seat is the buckle pockets. There are two pockets on the sides of the car seat for you to slip the metal part of the buckles into to both protect it from the heat when you’re not in the car and hold the belt open while you put baby in. Also, this seat holds a child for 4-50 lbs rear facing and 22-65lb forward facing so it is a great investment long term. I look forward to using this seat with Baby Girl for years to come.

I hope this post helps you save money like it did for me. I was so excited and amazed when I realized we could get a car seat for free using my earnings from TopCashback.com and the Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat was a worthwhile use of my earnings.
