Four Year Update

A lot happened in 2020, aside from the global pandemic I mean. A lot happened in my family. Looking at the date of my last post I can give you a rundown of what else we experienced.

  1. In regard to the kitchen refresh, my husband covered our countertops with laminate providing the final touch to our kitchen projects.
  2. On that same day I realized my girls had lice and I spent almost a month getting them completely eradicated. As a black woman I had never experienced lice before and did not realize they had them for a while. The mom guilt was crazy but the work involved to deal with them was even worse. Thankful on the first day I had my mom, sister, and a friend to help comb through all three of my girls’ hair, plus I was treated as well. I still have flashbacks to that time and hope to never experience it again.
  3. My parents bought a camper for us to flip, which we did in about a month’s time. Just in time for us to take it out for my 30th birthday. All I wanted for my birthday was to not spend it in my house and at the time, camping was the best pandemic friendly travel. We didn’t go far, but it was a nice change of scenery.
  4. We took a lovely pandemic friendly vacation to our favorite place, Massanutten, VA. Complete with long walks with the girls, trips to the park, and a flooded condo that caused us to be moved halfway through our stay. It was honestly a great time.
  5. Finally, we decided that since we had worked so hard making our current house beautiful, it just made sense to sell it and move to a new house where we could start all new projects – sarcasm alert! But we did list our house and it sold in four days, unfortunately that meant we had 21 days to find a house. We had 3 rejected offers and were almost out bid on our current house. It was a stressful whirlwind, but we now live on a 1 acre piece of land in our desired city in a house that we have been slowly making our own.
  6. Finally, about 1 month after moving we got the dreaded C-sickness and I feel like we lost a month of our lives once we were completely over it. Thankfully we have had no known lingering effects.

Last but not least, while it didn’t happen in 2020 I feel it is important to add that in 2023 we became a family of six. When our son was born he became the perfect bookend to our family and I cannot imagine our lives without him.
